Number porting: bringing your existing numbers with you
What porting involves, how long it takes, and how to avoid the two things that delay it.
Last reviewed 20 August 2026
Porting moves your existing phone numbers from your current provider onto ARK Connect. You keep the numbers; only the provider changes.
- 1You confirm the exact numbers to port and send us a recent bill from your current provider.
- 2You sign a letter of authority so we can request the transfer on your behalf.
- 3We submit the port and receive a proposed date from the losing provider.
- 4We set your new system up in parallel so it's tested and ready before the switch.
- 5On the port date the numbers cut over, usually within a short window during the working day.
The two things that delay a port
- Details that don't match the current provider's records exactly — company name, address, account number. Copy them from the bill, not from memory.
- Cancelling your existing service before the port completes. Don't. If the line is cancelled, the number is lost and cannot be recovered.
Plan for a few weeks, not a few days. Porting timescales are set by the losing provider and the industry process, not by us.
