What this means for your business

Small business staff who answer customer calls on mobile devices will be able to review AI-generated summaries without manual note-taking. Managers should ensure staff understand how to verify AI accuracy before acting on suggested follow-up tasks.

AI-generated summaries for mobile calls

Microsoft has announced that it will bring intelligent call recap to the Teams mobile application for calls received through queues. A call queue is a system that routes incoming calls to a specific group of people, such as a sales or support team. Currently, this AI-driven summarisation is primarily available for standard meetings and desktop calls.

When this update arrives, staff using the Queues app on their mobile phones will have access to automated notes, key discussion points, and suggested follow-up actions immediately after a call ends. The goal is to reduce the time employees spend writing manual summaries while working away from their desks.

How the feature works

The system uses artificial intelligence to transcribe the conversation and then extract the most important information. This includes identifying specific questions asked by the caller and any commitments made by the staff member. These summaries are stored within the Teams app, allowing mobile users to review previous interactions without needing to listen to a full recording.

For small businesses, this may assist in maintaining record accuracy when staff are on-site or travelling. It provides a structured way to track customer requests without requiring a laptop.

Implementation and limitations

According to the current roadmap, Microsoft expects this feature to reach general availability in December 2026. It is important to note that timelines for Microsoft 365 updates frequently change, and features may be delayed or revised before they are released.

As with all AI-generated content, the accuracy of these summaries depends on the clarity of the audio and the complexity of the conversation. Ark Assist recommends that staff treat these notes as a draft rather than a definitive record. You should verify that the AI has correctly captured names, dates, and specific technical requirements before relying on the generated follow-up tasks.

We do not yet have information regarding the specific licensing requirements for this mobile feature, though similar tools usually require a Teams Premium or Copilot for Microsoft 365 subscription. We will provide updates as more information becomes available closer to the release date.
