Cloudflare scheduled maintenance at London data centre September 2026

Cloudflare has announced scheduled maintenance for its London (LHR) data centre on 16 September 2026 between 00:00 and 08:00 UTC. During this window, internet traffic may be re-routed, potentially leading to increased latency for users in the UK.

What this means for your business

Small businesses using Cloudflare services may notice slightly slower website loading speeds or application response times during the early hours of 16 September. No direct action is required for most users, though organisations with private network interconnections should verify their failover configurations.

Maintenance window and re-routing

Cloudflare has scheduled maintenance at its London (LHR) data centre for 16 September 2026. The work is expected to take place between 00:00 and 08:00 UTC. During this period, Cloudflare will be performing updates to its infrastructure in the region.

While the maintenance is underway, traffic that normally passes through the London facility will be re-routed to other nearby data centres. Because the data must travel further to reach its destination, users located in the UK and surrounding areas might experience a slight increase in latency. Latency refers to the time it takes for data to travel from one point to another; in practice, this usually appears as a brief delay when loading a webpage or using a cloud-based application.

Potential for service interruption

For the majority of small and medium businesses, this maintenance will pass without significant notice. The re-routing process is designed to maintain connectivity even when a specific site is offline. However, there is a possibility that network interfaces in the London datacentre will become temporarily unavailable during the window.

Businesses that use Private Network Interconnects (PNI) or Cloudflare Network Interconnects (CNI)—which are dedicated physical or virtual links between a business's own network and Cloudflare—should ensure their systems are configured to fail over to alternative locations. If these links are not set up to redirect traffic automatically, those specific connections may drop.

Action for UK businesses

We do not expect this to cause a total loss of service for standard web hosting or security services. Most business owners do not need to take any specific action. If your business operates critical services that are highly sensitive to delay, you may wish to avoid scheduling large data transfers or significant updates during the early hours of 16 September.

Ark Assist will continue to monitor the status of the LHR data centre during the maintenance window. If you experience unexpected connectivity issues that persist beyond the scheduled time, please contact our support desk.
