A busy village hall needed an AV system that different hirers could use confidently, without giving them access to equipment they could misconfigure or damage.

The challenge
- The hall hosts community groups, meetings and parties, each with different devices and very different levels of technical knowledge.
- Years of people adjusting settings and disconnecting cables had damaged speakers, broken the microphone and made the projector connection unreliable.
- The hall wanted to offer projection, music, microphones and presentation facilities without requiring management to explain a complicated system every time.
Our approach
- Installed the core equipment inside a new locked rack, restricting physical access to the hall management team.
- Provided simple wall-mounted controls for the projector, source selection and audio — exactly what hirers need and nothing more.
- Added wireless presentation options including Google Cast, Apple AirPlay and a dedicated connection for compatible laptops.
- Configured the audio system with automatic microphone ducking and a limited volume range to protect the speakers.
- Reused the existing hearing loop cabling with a new amplifier, restoring accessibility without unnecessary replacement.
- Continued to support the system after installation, adding an adapter when real-world use revealed devices that needed a different connection.
The outcome
- Hirers can use projection, music, microphones and presentations without touching the technical equipment.
- The hall management team no longer deals with the headaches caused by a system being altered by different users.
- The existing hearing loop now works correctly with the new system for hearing-aid users.
- The system has required very little intervention since it was installed in 2024.
