The challenge
- The church needed good-quality video and audio streamed directly to YouTube, without relying on a technically confident operator being available for every service.
- Whatever we installed had to be simple enough for different volunteers to use with minimal training, while still offering multiple camera angles, professional intros and outros, and reliable audio.
- The system also needed ongoing maintenance and monitoring so the church team did not have to manage updates or troubleshoot streaming software.
Our approach
- Installed three static cameras with views agreed in advance with the church team.
- Integrated the system with the church's existing sound equipment for a direct, clean audio feed.
- Built a dedicated broadcast computer to handle cameras, audio, the YouTube connection and automation — with no keyboard or mouse on show.
- Replaced complex software controls with five physical buttons: Start Stream, Camera 1, Camera 2, Camera 3 and End Stream.
- Set up remote monitoring, automated overnight restarts and a planned monthly maintenance window so updates never interrupt a service.
- Configured and continue to help administer the church's YouTube channel when needed.
The outcome
- The system has been in regular use since 2021, typically streaming once or twice every week.
- Only around three occasions have needed any intervention or restart in that time.
- Regular services can be watched by people unable to attend in person, and weddings and funerals can be shared with family and friends who cannot be there.
- For the volunteer running the service, a multi-camera live production is just five buttons.
