T-Mobile has announced that they have suffered a security breach affecting the personal data of more than a million of their customers with prepaid wireless accounts. The company state that their cyber security team discovered the unauthorised access to customer data, then immediately resolved the issue and reported it to authorities.
The hacked data includes names, billing addresses, phone numbers, account numbers and information about rate plans and features, although no financial data or passwords were compromised. Customers whose accounts have been breached should have been contacted, providing that T-Mobile have up-to-date contact details for them.
Anyone wanting confirmation as to whether they have been affected or not should email privacy@t-mobile.com. Impacted customers are recommended to change their account passwords as a precaution and to remain extra vigilant for phishing attacks and identity theft.
